On my site, random and impressive footage of Great White Shark activity is indeed a welcome diversion. Girthy, aggressive, and curious female Great White Sharks always add a bit of razzle-dazzle to my day and hopefully to yours, too. I’m not an ardent admirer of this particular site, per se, but every once in awhile they come up with the goods. Forget the sketchy copy and editing and scroll down to the bottom of the page for a video clip of some everyday dudes out fishing on a fairly small craft as they encounter one of the ocean’s Bossy Babes in all her glory. As you will see, Big Mama was not at all shy about saying “Hello” to the stunned landlubbers.

Perhaps due to the cultural familiarity of Discovery Channel’s beloved Shark Week and the widespread availability of Great White Shark footage found while spelunking the wyrmholes of the Cyber Age, the thrill of seeing a massive shark courtesy of some iPhone cinematographer is passé. I question that possibility. These are rare creatures of prehistoric majesty and any chance to glimpse one—especially a rather large specimen—in its element, doing what it does best with its toothy confidence atop the food-chain, is a Special Occasion. Watch her gnaw that floater aside the fishing boat and tremble, y’all.
