Some mayor Down Under is shooting off his gob about the need to cull Great White Sharks due to the fact that these animals have the nerve, presently, to be living in their native habitat and doing what they have been doing for well over one hundred million years.

This mayor also happens to be a surfer.

If sharks served no purpose whatsoever in our oceanic ecological systems and were merely scurrying about like cockroaches, spreading disease and random mayhem, there might be a case behind this git’s honking and hollering opinions.

But as it is, he sounds like a complete moron, to me, and his words only underscore the heights (and depths) to which human hubris will travel when untethered by a shred of perspective, logic, and humility.

He may also harbor political aspirations of the “we have Godly dominion over all the plants and animals of the earth” persuasion.

There’s always a lot of that going around. If I had a bit more time and coffee this morning, I’d tell you what really needs a bit of culling on this orb.
