Imagine arriving at the 64th year of your existence, pausing from the woes of the world to refresh yourself in the inviting blue waters of the Caribbean, wading out for a delightful swim before a tropical breakfast, at one with the beauty and serene ambience of a realm far-removed from the squalor of Great Britain …

… and being mauled in the shallows by a bloodthirsty, relentless bull shark until you’ve lost both an arm and a leg—but not your life—just as the reward of retirement from the working world was dangling its first golden carrot in your face.

Mother Nature is a big fat BITCH.

This happened to a luckless pensioner in the exotic haven of the Caribbean while the man was on vacation. Bless his dear heart. Where does one go from there? The road back to any semblance of a normal, fulfilling life is not exactly destroyed, but it straddles the edge of a knife. Let us hope this gentleman is made of stern stuff and can somehow, some WAY find a reason to go on and take pleasure in life remaining.

Meanwhile, for the rest of us? Live every moment fully and maybe stick to the resort hot tub and/or pool.

Tragic. Prayers of hope for this fellow are wafting upward but greater metaphysical energy is emanating that he might find within himself the indefatigable spark of human resilience. Let’s be real.
