I’m not sure what this article is trying to communicate, but apparently divers are investigating hieroglyphic inscriptions found beneath the waters of Lake Nasser near Aswan, or Philae, or Abu Simbel.

They should have thought to document this stuff before building the dam. I mean, the texts of the surviving temples themselves have not been studied and published in their entirety. Authorities and archaeologists knew that a great many monuments were going to be lost when the High Dam was built in the 1960s. It seems silly to go back and try to study submerged sites now. Sink some effort and money into excavating many of the amazing structures still languishing on land, e.g. Behbeit, Komir, etc.
