Enthusiast Keith had been involved in the disposal of a fin whale that beached itself and died in LA County. He intended to follow authorities as they towed the mammoth carcass out to sea because it’s a given that Great White Sharks go into All-You-Can-Eat mode when whale blubber bobs along the surface of the briny.

Unfortunately, the whale cadaver began to sink just 2.5 miles offshore for reasons not quite understood and our Sharky Photog turned his attentions to chumming for mako sharks as a consolation prize. Little did he know or expect that a truly BIG MAMA would favor him with an appearance and he has the photos to prove it. His Facebook Page features some groovy shots of a large 18-foot female who was not previously listed in the Great White Database. Meet Catalina. And don’t surf in that area if you can help it, and you can.
