I’m completely on the side of Penguin Random House regarding this new AI controversy. It’s okay if academics at Oxford University Press, for example, allow their works to be “scraped” by nosy robots—everyone knows that most academics can barely string two sentences together, anyhow. Let the scrapers have a ball with those works; the incoherence will jam their frequencies and perhaps lead to spontaneous ‘borg combustion.
