Amazon Prime is currently showcasing series adaptations of two epics: MERLIN + THE ODYSSEY. Both productions hail from the late 1990s and feature all-star casts. The first is charming, the other is quite silly. Highlights and lowlights: The incandescent Isabella Rossellini stars in both and The Odyssey co-stars the otherwise luminous Broadway star, Bernadette Peters, as a boop-boop-a-doop version of the witch Circe, complete with a Brooklyn gun mol’s accent. 😆 Thank heaven the source material could never, by definition, be so miscast!
