Tolkien’s glimpse into the escapist value of literature was never more acute:

“I do not accept the tone of scorn with which ‘escape’ is now so often used. Why should you be scorned if, finding yourself captive, you try to get out and go home?”

I agree wholeheartedly … with some provisional caution. But I’m not about to share my deep philosophy on a blog. I’ll put it in a book one day and people can buy it, if they wish.

You see, that’s part of my philosophy: “If you create something of value, don’t give your good stuff away for free. Trade is the backbone of civilization.”

Eh, I’ll work on it and get back to you in ten years when I’m an ever bigger wisenheimer.
