Was she not deemed worthy of description as a “Singing Wishman”?

Was she the illegitimate bastard offspring of Mr. Wishman and a prostitute named Tilly from Topeka, later adopted by the forgiving-but-resentful matriarch of the Christian Wishman brood and yet condescendingly never allowed to take the Wishman name as punishment for being fornication-spawn?

Obviously the large, ungainly looking blonde in the album photo, was Sharon’s sense of self-worth so utterly shattered by the family’s secret derision that she turned to booze and dancing for nickels in her undies at a local juke joint on Friday nights when she was supposed to be at quilting practice?

Did Sharon eventually buy a Shetland pony, run away, and reunite with her ho-strollin’ mother in Topeka, forming a new “family trio” much more impassioned than the hymnic caterwaulings of the Wishmans?

The album cover conveys mystery, but the entire sordid tale is written upon Sharon’s face and in every thread of her sacred polka-dot smock. Behold, ye believers, and say a prayer for her crippling shame.
