There are precious few musical artists I would pay exorbitant ticket prices to see in “live” performance. Crowds of any sort no longer “do it” for this eremitic soul. I question the levels of “talent” being marshaled into the mainstream. I am also a bit of a classicist. Make no mistake—blues singers, rock singers, country warblers, rap artists, and jugband luvvies can all be as classic as Mozart, in their own way. But you have to be GIFTED to get my money.

The young lady above, Americana singer Jamie Wyatt, is one of those rare and brilliant birds. A spectacular songwriter of remarkable insight and deft wordsmithery, she also possesses a voice that is ablaze with sweet, clarion freedom … tinged with the finest whiskey on a night of soul-searching satisfaction.

She is of the greatest, truest singers in modern music today, and I am unanimous in that opinion. Jaime’s had a genuinely difficult life (addiction, brief stint in prison) so she’s not wearing any kind of “outlaw” costume. Ms. Wyatt is the REAL thing. From her videos, she appears to be an electrifying live artist, as well. I own two of her albums, Neon Cross and Feel Good. Both are outstanding works. She has been produced by the best Nashville has to offer, including the magnificent Shooter Jennings, who is now a bona fide legend just like his daddy, Waylon Jennings, and his mama, Jessi Colter.

Jamie has what I would consider legendary talent, too. That voice, that voice, that voice.

Keep writing and singing and recording, Lady. I would so plonk down $100 to go to one of your shows. If you ever get to perform in Northern California, I’d get to scratch something off my bucket list.

Yeah, she’s that talented. Check her out on YouTube, for starters. Her Neon Cross single and accompanying video make for a superb introduction. If she comes to your town on her tour, go see her. I’ll deal with my jealousy from afar.
