Up against the wall, trespasser!
Not really. I wasn’t practicing to take part in a criminal line-up, here. I simply paused for a pose while visiting Pau, France, which is a charming town not far from the famous Marian shrine at Lourdes. It was the perfect time of the year for visiting that portion of South France—a gentle climate leftover from Summer blended in a sultry manner with the first, faint chill of Autumn breezes and the drowsy transformation of leaves on the mountainous terrain, rife with trees in stalwart array. The Basque region is probably my favorite “getaway” place in all the world: what those folks can do with a simple bean and some country bacon will blow the mind and tantalize the palate. Journeying to this part of France near the Pyrenees gives one the distinct sense of leaving worldly angst and trivial concerns behind to enter a wilderness gilded at the edges in silver and gold. Parts of Niedersachsen, Germany boast the same, curious magic. I am well overdue for another visit …
