A sweeping modern fairy-tale is born with the Rowan Blaize series of books …
Book One = The magical cornerstone – a lavishly illustrated epic poem and “spell” to treasure for a lifetime, telling the story of sorcerer Rowan Blaize’s fall from power. (Think Beowulf-meets-Dr.Seuss)
Book Two = The rip-roaring novel that continues the adventures of Rowan Blaize and introduces the three hilarious witches of the Ancient City, along with its dysfunctional werewolves, wraiths, ghosts, vampires, dryads, banshees and a beauty pageant brat that might just destroy the world.
Book Three = The novel that finds Rowan trapped by a spell in another dimension, caught between a faery-squashing sorceress who’ll stop at nothing to conquer a kingdom … and a feisty teenage prince who’s determined to get it back.

~The World of Rowan Blaize: Character Profiles~by Jonathan Kieran
The realm of ancient sorcerer Rowan Blaize is one in which otherwise hidden worlds collide with (or dwell alongside) our own mortal sphere. Rowan’s existence is played-out across landscapes and dreamscapes that encompass “worlds within worlds,” providing the observant traveler ample opportunity to encounter creatures of dazzling magical qualities. Some of these beings are friendly, others are belligerent, and still others have a hard time deciding among the various options. From one universe to the next, certain things never change. Enjoy meeting the main characters of Rowan’s adventurous story in the profiles below and remember: wherever the world and whomever the wayfarer … only enchantment is immortal.
Character Name: Dedwen
*IMDb Dream-Portrayal By: Dalip Singh (as Dedwen’s “djin” form)

With some proper coaching, the formidable Dalip Singh would be ideal to play the looming, loathsome and loquacious Dedwen in “djin” form.
Nature/Occupation: One of the High Ifrit members of the race of the Djin
Age: Hundreds of thousands of years
Background: Dedwen brags about being around when human beings first swung-down from the trees and began to walk upright, so this djin has seen a great deal over the eons. Like most djinn, however, his acquired intelligence is marred by a slight gullibility that can sometimes lead to his deception, if the deceiver is sly enough. Dedwen spent a great deal of rather adventurous time in ancient Egypt, Samarkand, and Persia before his unexpected introduction to modern life in St. Augustine, Florida. He has one unnamed sister that we know about. She has apparently been looking after his pet demon-jackals for almost 1,600 years.
Significant Traits: Dedwen, when in native djin-form, is sixteen feet tall, with pockmarked, scaled-armor skin. Brown and matted fur is interspersed on his hide with sections of red-raw pectoral muscle pierced by hundreds of glistening ringlets. He has a collar of upturned horns, three eyes, poison-dribbling mandibles, and a seriously bad attitude to match his ravenous appetite.
Unique Powers/Abilities: Dedwen is the master of countless spells, but his favorite enchantments seem to center around transmogrification, the physical impersonation of anything (or anyone) he eats and unassailable mind-control.
Classic Quote: “A proper bargain involves a delicate exchange of goods or interests. Come, come! You want to entice me with something and I wish to be enticed.”
Featured In: Book Two (Rowan Blaize and the Hand of Djin Rummy)
*If I am ever fortunate enough to see Rowan’s adventures adapted for film or for the stage, this is the actor (or creature) I can most readily visualize playing the character in a given profile.
