Caress My Egyptological Algorithm

Oooooo, this is a FINE ARTICLE about the study of ancient graffiti (called dipinti in ancient times) found in the temple complex of Isis on the island of Agilkia/Philae. The markings, honoring a multitude of gods, goddesses, prayers, and simple “Ptolemy was here!”-type proclamations provide greater understanding about the rich cultural and religious history of the famed island and its well-preserved monuments. The photos in THIS PIECE are top notch.

Of course, Yours Truly has haunted this island a number of times during my Egyptian travels; once I even had the entire island and its beguiling ruins all to myself for a morning and afternoon. Was I mystically enraptured by the graceful ministrations of the Mighty Isis? Read the book when I get around to writing it. Heh.
