(Do South African Brown Widow Spiders do this to other Brown Widow Spiders competing for food in the same vicinities, or do they specifically single-out Black Widow spiders for their savage attacks? The article doesn’t say and I NEED to know!)

(Can we stop the brain-frazzling overuse of the word “iconic” already? The article’s author refers to “the iconic Black Widow spider.” That shit is like saying, “the iconic mosquito.” Black Widow spiders are certainly infamous and distinctive, due to their venom and red hourglass markings, but iconic? Do people still utilize dictionaries when they aren’t sure about the proper meaning and application of a given term before they employ said term?)

(The piece notes that these voracious Brown Widow spiders are an invasive species hailing from South Africa. What in the hell do we import from South Africa that might serve as a magic carpet for these pushy arachnids? Do they arrive as stowaways in diamond shipments? I’ve gotta get my Sherlock Holmes hat on and start foraging for clues.)
