Yesterday, I displayed my latest instance of apophenia mania and promised to show you where it would lead. Behold! I have gone and DONE it.
Where, oh WHERE do fantasy-writers-who-also-illustrate get their ideas? From many sources, my friends. Many and various, within and without. Since childhood, I have been blessed (cursed? 🤔) with a heightened form of apophenia—the tendency to see coherent images in otherwise random (and even chaotic) visual patterns. Yesterday, I flung my workout sweatpants on a hook and then did a double take. Yep, I saw something in the fabric. I took a photo. Half an hour and one sheet of Bristol drawing paper later, I FOUND my monster.
Can you see what I saw in the clothing? Again, some call it “apophenia” but my parents always called it “you and your damned overactive imagination!”
It ain’t easy being a bit weird.
