Goodreads! Giveaway! Get You Some!

Okay, so I have launched a Goodreads Giveaway for US readers and the “prize” is my new novella, THE BAPHOMET GLASS. Twenty-five (25) print copies will be sent to winners. The entry period began just after midnight today (October 14) and will last until midnight October 26.

If you are a Goodreads member you can enter the giveaway by clicking HERE.

There are twelve days to enter on the spooky lead-up to Halloween. Put your oar in, if you are so inclined.

I don’t want to say much about the book. It’s difficult and weird to talk about one’s work.

Offering a little background on my new ShadowPyx Short Story Collection, I started writing these tales in 2021, amid the COVID outbreak. By the end of 2023, I had thirty-five new supernatural shorts. Some are genuine short stories of around 10K words, while others (like THE BAPHOMET GLASS⬆️) are novellas. This book is 145 pages.

A swift brush of fingers over your face in the dark of night.

I’m releasing these shorts in a constellation because the timing is right, pure and simple. I didn’t want to sit on them forever and the opportunity arose.

About this particular work. Hmmm.

I’d call it a slow-burn but vibrant immersion into the many awful things that compromise our innocence, the forces beyond our control. There’s a wistful desolation saturating the narrative. I don’t know why.

Well, I do know, but some hurts must remain private forever. There is a sensual element, I guess—it’s about the memorable things we see, touch, taste, hear, smell, and hold onto in this bedeviled life. Everything in this winsome but ominous fable (set in the modern world) could have actually happened to me, or to you.

Who’s to say it didn’t? Or won’t?

That’s all I can say about it. These are the people and situations that simply “arrive” when I spin a tale. I don’t like to look too closely at my finished work. It’s “born” and bumped from the nest. Readers can make what they will of it all, of course.  Whether three or three thousand people read my stuff. All the same to me.

What else can be shared?

The plot: A grown man recalls a childhood horror that could not be escaped without a Deal.

The tone of my writing? Warm and inviting on the outside … dark, twisted, and disturbing on the inside. With plenty of the macabre between the lines.

Learn more and enter HERE. If Goodreads picks you, I’d love to send you a copy.
